Our strike missions in January to May, and November are timed to maximise your surfing time with optimal conditions: reliable S/SW swells, warm waters, minimal wind or rain, and fewer crowds. Playa Hermosa is one of the best surfing destinations in Central America, often referred to as the most consistent beach break in Costa Rica. It stretches for approximately 8 kilometres (about 5 miles), offering numerous breaks suitable for intermediate to advanced surfers. This ensures you get the most out of your surf trip.

Our Favourite Surf Breaks
Playa Hermosa
Right out front of your accommodation. This break offers world-class, punchy A-frames and barrels. Best at mid to high tide.
Terassa
A short walk away, Terassa features hollow rights and lefts breaking over a submerged reef, with rippable walls and plenty of barrels.
Pipa
Another nearby break with powerful rights and shorter lefts, perfect for surfers looking to score consistent waves close to shore.
Bowie
A regional standout. Popular with the local pros and known for its consistency and power. Challenging waves ideal for advanced surfers.
Tulin
A powerful beach break, located further south, offering heavy barrels, ideal for experienced surfers. Best on a higher tide.
Esterillos
A few more peaks located a short drive away. Long, often more mellow waves than Hermosa but can get really good during SW swells.
Jaco Beach
A short drive away with multiple breaks (El Bohio, El Parque, Madrigal). Varied surf options when Hermosa is too big or closing out.
